This uses the standard infrared (10.5µm) channel rather than reflected sunlight, so unlike the True Colour image it keeps working right through the night as well as the day — watch it for a full day/night cycle and you can see the terminator (the day/night boundary) sweep across Western Europe. Sourced from EUMETSAT's newest satellite, Meteosat Third Generation (MTG).
