True Colour combines several visible-light satellite channels to render clouds, snow, ice, vegetation and sea in something close to their real colours — greener land, bluer sea, and a clear contrast between cloud and snow that a plain infrared image can't show. Because it relies on reflected sunlight, it only works in daylight: outside UK daylight hours the image below will look flat, dark or mostly black. Sourced from EUMETSAT's newest satellite, Meteosat Third Generation (MTG).
